Common UPVC Door Lock Problems
UPVC door locks develop predictable faults, and catching them early prevents a full mechanism failure later. These are the problems we see most often across Ilford:
- Misalignment between the door and frame, making the handle hard to lift or the key difficult to turn
- The multipoint locking mechanism jamming partway, so the door locks at some points but not others
- Euro cylinders becoming stiff or seizing up, especially in cold weather
- Handles that feel loose, droop, or spring back without engaging the lock
- The door dropping on its hinges, so the locking bolts no longer line up with the keep on the frame
If your door needs extra force to lock or the key feels rough when turning, those are early signs that something needs attention before the lock fails completely.
